Who is Chiron?
Chiron is a fascinating figure, both in mythology and in modern spiritual and astrological practices. Often referred to as “The Wounded Healer,” Chiron represents the intersection of pain, healing, and transformation.
Chiron in Mythology
In Greek mythology, Chiron was a centaur - a half-human, half-horse being- renowned for his wisdom, knowledge of medicine, and gentle nature. Unlike other centaurs, who were often depicted as wild and unruly, Chiron was compassionate, patient, and deeply committed to teaching and healing others.
Ironically, despite his mastery of healing, Chiron suffered from a wound that could not be healed- a poisoned arrow injury. This paradox of being a healer yet carrying an unhealable wound became the essence of his myth: he teaches that our deepest wounds can also become our greatest sources of wisdom and empathy.
Chiron in Astrology
In astrology, Chiron represents our deepest emotional and spiritual wounds, as well as the areas of life where we have the potential to become healers and lightworkers ourselves. Its placement in your natal chart shows where you may experience vulnerability, but also where you can develop profound gifts, insights and resilience.
Working with Chiron is about:
Acknowledging your vulnerabilities without shame.
Transforming pain into wisdom and compassion.
Understanding that healing is a journey, not a destination.
Supporting others through empathy rooted in personal experience.
